RIVERSIDE: Sarah Horn’s return to Hollywood Bowl draws cheers

Riverside voice teacher Sarah Horn sang ABBA’s “Thank You for the Music” at the Hollywood Bowl Sunday Night.
Accompanied on the piano by friend Eric Belvin, she turned the song into personal statement about her two weeks of YouTube superstardom. Horn was called up from the audience to the stage of the Bowl by Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth on Aug 23. The pair sang “For Good” from Chenoweth’s hit musical “Wicked.”
Videos of the duet have gone viral, attracting 3.5 Internet views, Horn told Sunday’s Bowl audience. “It’s been a whirlwind two weeks, let me tell you,” she said.
Horn sang the song again Sunday with backup with three a Capella choirs from Southern California colleges. Wearing a black cocktail dress with lace sleeves, she was emceeing a contest in which the students vied musically in an ABBA sing-off.
She warmed up the audience by urging them to channel their “inner dancing queen.” Horn’s chance to relive her “musical Cinderella moment” was covered by Tv crews from KABC, KCBS and “Inside Edition.” She got guest star billing on the Bowl marquee.
The ABBA sing-off lasted 45 minutes and took up the first half of the program. After intermission, an ABBA tribute
band took the stage. The audience included Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters on an ABBA T-shirt.
